The Nominees Are....
After a long morning getting ready and packing, it was finally time to head towards Tesco car park to meet our coach driver for the day. We were relieved that Geoff CLIC was not driving. When joined the other already on board and it was great to see so many familiar faces and receive hugs. We found our seats.
The 7 young people from Young Flintshire were excited to see who else would be joining us on this exciting journey to Cardiff for the biggest event of the year, THE CLIC AWARDS. We set off and ventured for Wrexham where we found a companion on our bus - Pudsey the Bear. When we arrived at Wrexham, we decided to take Pudsey on tour and film the amazing places he was visiting or going to visit. Our first stop was the toilets at Water World.
We continued our journey down south to Newtown, where we stopped off for dinner at McDonald's. We hopped back on to the bus to find out that we could hack the radio station. We continued with many more toilet breaks until we could see the Millennium Stadium in the distance. The atmosphere became tense as we didn’t know what to expect from the awards.
After checking in to the hostel and going up to our rooms and dressing up in very formal attire we headed downstairs where we found that our editorial leader had glow sticks. We made a lead for Pudsey out of them and decorated ourselves to light up Cardiff. At half past five, taxis were ordered and we hit the town to the national museum.
When we got out of the taxi, we found all of our friends from previous residentials and couldn't believe the many different hats I could see (the theme of the event). We watched the circus acts while we waited nervously. I think even Pudsey was nervous as well.
The doors opened like a gateway to Narnia. We were shown to our seats and sat down. There were many other tables in the large hall with a very high ceiling. Well, I was sat down until I saw the buffet that was laid on! Then the 5 minute warning was announced and Danial and Beth started to announce the awards.
So many fantastic articles and videos had been submitted, but unfortunately there could only be one winner. Nervously everyone awaited their category to be called out and were wondering what the prizes could be. Third prize was a winner t shirt, second was a t shirt and first was the glorious glass trophy with a hoodie and a £50 Amazon voucher. I awaited my categories and then funniest article was announced. After weeks of everyone putting statuses on Facebook saying ‘please vote’, the winners were finally announced. I came second, but to me that was an achievement and I’m so proud of every other CLICer in that category.
We had a comedian on half way through. He was good and did some hat jokes and was recognised from being on Eggheads. We even had an exciting talk from a Welsh Government minister. Then the last few awards were announced. I was shocked to receive the award for ‘best newcomer’. To me that is my best achievement within life.
It was then time for Eric Unseen to play us out from a great evening of fun, freebies and friends. They did a few songs from their album. We left the greatest grand hall I have ever sat in and we went over to the Winter Wonderland to see the lights and attractions before heading back to the Urdd to sleep, before a long journey home to North Wales.
The journey home didn't go to plan for me. That morning before we went for a walk around Cardiff, I fell from the top bunk and hit my head square on the floor. Oh well, I'm fine!!

CONGRATULATIONS, BEST NEW COMER! Awesome article! Though when I found out that the two Aaron's abused poor Pudsey, I was not amused, bless him!
I'm really pleased for all the winners and everyone deserved it! Winning CLICer of the Year was a total shocker! For a moment or two, I literally thought I was daydreaming and that I wasn't even there! I guess it's (sort of) kicking in a bit now. I'm really glad you won, though!
I can't wait until the next awards or the next residential or anything, really! I love you guys so much! It's kind of depressing when we all have to say goodbye haha x
