So, I have a brother who is in a band, who happened to get a spot alongside the likes of Rihana, Cheryl Cole, Alicia Keys, Faithless and many more playing at Radio Ones Big Weekend! Evan Better, it was in Wales, Bangor!

The weeks leading up to the festival, it was the most talked about thing on Radio and everyone was wondering whether they had landed a pair of these golden tickets! I sat back with relief that I’d not only got a pair of tickets but they where complimentary of Radio One, I felt like a very important person indeed.

Trying to find somewhere to call home for that weekend was mayhem. Everywhere was booked up by radio one itself!! After hours of searching and rejection, we found a campsite who became our saviours! The weeks became days and then it was here, Radio Ones Big weekend had arrived!

I woke up the Friday morning to open the curtains to blazing hot sun; it was a sign that the weekend was going to be amazing! After a last minute dash spending way too much on junk in ASDA, we set off on our way down to Bangor, the place to be for that weekend!

That Friday night, we went to watch Annie Mac, Pete tong and many other special guests at what seemed to be a building full of offices which had been transformed into a Building full of drunken and wild students from all around the U.K! The taxi driver home told us of who he had driven round throughout the past days, getting us even more excited as we’d been in the same taxi as Edith Bowman!

8am arrived Saturday morning and strangely, teenagers were arising out of bed! After a very well needed maccies breakfast, nap and shower… we set off for RADIO ONES BIG WEEKEND! Walking down the street accompanied by thousands of festival goers made you more excited than ever. After a very hot and tiring walk to the site, I was glad to find out, I could walk past the eager crowds who had to wait in a queue the size of the great wall of China and go straight in, oh the joys of being V.I.P!

As of this, we had to wait for everyone to come in, so myself and my boyfriend decided to go for a wonder in the V.I.P area (Yes I am not going to stop going on that I was V.I.P, but it was amazing, I even had someone ask to pay £60 quid for my wristband!). I have to say, it was beautiful, the grass just seemed to be cut much nicer, there was a massive Te-Pe which held big leather beanbags and bowls full of haribos. The air was even fresher in there, and may I add… NICE TOILETS!!!

First was Example, he brought an energetic set along with an even more energetic hairstyle. Then off to watch Ellie Goulding in the live lounge, this was a truly magical experience. Everyone gathered around under the Te-Pe and listened to her mystical voice singing – Guns & Horses and 'The Cave' by Mumford and sons acoustically. I was literally 5 foot away from her and I have to say, one of my highlights from the day. After that chilled out session along with a delicious plate full of noodles and veg, meeting Tim Westwood and that guy who has that WELL GOOD SHOW, I was off to bounce around to Vernon Kay & Pete Tong! Not only was the music amazing, but watching these two legends Russian dance in perfect sync was defiantly another highlight. Humongous Ball’s where thrown out into the crowd, the whole set was an adrenalin rush.

Running over to the introducing stage, I just caught the opening song to my I am Austin, All the way from Flintshire AKA my brother! This was the stage where only two years ago the likes of Florence & the machine had been and this year they where headlining the whole event on the main stage. The tent was already full but more and more spectators where lured into the base filled room. The crowd was dancing, even a few singing along! It was a proud moment where I could actually shout out… ‘ THAT’S MY BROTHER’! The set was amazing finished by one of there most popular ‘Stripper’ and they received an amazing applause, it was immense.

Off to the main stage we went, one of my all time favourite ladies was about to come on… or I thought she was. After a gruelling 30 minute wait, The Beautiful Alicia Keys arrived on stage (Very late) to fill the air with perfect pitched notes. After singing my heart out to Miss Keys, The crowd was pumped up for Dizzee Rascal! He arrived on stage with so much energy performing some of his earlier classics; you could truly see he loved it! He was jumping into the crowd, high fiving the flustered girls and doing all this with only a pair of baggy shorts on, classy.

Next was Faithless, one thing I had been looking forward to all day. They are true music legends in my eyes. Maxi Jazz arrived onto stage and he was like a God, standing there embracing the crown whilst Sister Bliss started playing those famous notes. He had the crowd in his hands and that performance and atmosphere is going to be one I will be telling my grandchildren about.

After that we ran over to the Main Stage to catch Florence & the machine, from a far Florence herself looked like an Angel in her long floaty white dress and big red hair. Her voice sent shivers down my spine as she hit the high notes.( A little insider note to anyone who watched the performance of ‘You’ve got the Love’ with Dizzee rascal on TV, they had to start again as Dizzee came on to late, it was comedy moment in its own right)

I must say, myself and my group of friends who I was with, where one of the last people to leave the site staying to watch Annie Mac play the very last performance of the night. Walking back was something out of Green Street, Shouting and Bawling, Everybody was ready for more. Although, I was defiantly ready for bed.
