Playday, is the annual celebration of children’s right to play. This year NEW Play (North East Wales Play) and its partners will be celebrating the day at a number of events all across north east Wales.

NEW Play will be supporting Flintshire County Council's Play Unit Playday celebrations, which is adopting the theme of "putting children and their play at the heart of their communities".

Playday will be celebrated across the county, at all of the 70 seasonal summer playscheme sites, although there will be an extended Playday event in Gronant at Rural North Adventure Playground, running from 11 am until 5 pm. The Chairman of Flintshire County Council, Councillor Hilary McGuill, is visiting the scheme that day as part of a tour of Flintshire play scheme sites this summer. All events will give children the chance to access a variety of play opportunities that will include self build, rope swings water fights, water slides, building fires and much much more. This will give children the freedom to get messy, be creative, experience risk and ultimately have fun. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Playing and hanging out with their friends is one of the most important aspects of all the lives of children and young people – it contributes to their happiness, health, learning and their ability to thrive and survive.
