Consultation - Draft Flintshire Play Strategy, 2010 -2014
Flintshire County Council and the Play Unit are reviewing their Play Strategy. This strategy will set out how children and young people will have the space and opportunity for lots of different types of play in their areas.
More play
We want to make sure that all children and young people have lots of opportunities to play. We need your help, so we will be asking you what you think of the places you play in and how to make them better.
Playing can help prepare your brain for learning, so we want to make sure you get a chance to play during school and after school.
We want your local community to be a great place to play in. We will do this by helping people understand that you have a right to play, and by making sure you can access playful spaces near where you live.
Where there are playschemes and adventure play areas, we will make sure that there are playworkers there who are trained, and who will support you in having the best possible play experiences
We will make sure that play is fun and challenging and that your parents or carers and other adults encourage and support you to play - even when it may get a little risky…
There will be a group of people in Flintshire, called the Play Forum, who will work to promote your right to play and make sure that adults consider you and your play when making decisions about things that happen in your community.
What do you think of these aims? You can tell the Play Unit what you think about them and how they can be made real by sending your ideas through the Flintshire County Council website, signing in to Young Flintshire and posting them below, or sending them in by post to:

I belive that children and young people need more structured play such as football, rugby, tennis, boxing etc. is it possible for more coaches to be introduced in smaller communities such as small villages. This would get children and young focused on getting into local sports teams and not walk the streets and give them drive and motivation to try new sports and even help them get a job from the skills offered from sport and play.
