Chester Zoo
On the 19th of September, we decided to take a trip to Chester Zoo. The prices put us off at first. However, living so close to Chester, we found that Merseyrail were doing an offer £18 for adults and £15 for students which included our train fare, bus fare and admission. When we got to the gates we entered to see, well, what we call a normal day at the Zoo. It was nice to see many animals there and even more enclosures being done up. My geography is not that good - me and maps don't go - and we were just getting lost. However as a child I spent most of my time at the Zoo as my Great Grandad was the head keeper of the elephants. He was working there at the time that Jubillee was born. She was the first elephant to be born in captivity at Chester Zoo. But for some strange reason, after many years, I still knew my way around half the Zoo at least.
We had taken our own food as we expected the prices to be quite expensive. We settled for a bottle of pop and some sausage rolls.
It took us 5 hours to get round the park, and I have to say I enjoyed it. The best bit was the bat house with all of the bats flying past and over you.
There are many ways to get around the Zoo and you can see it from an overhead perspective using the monorail. This is a cheap and effective way to plan your route. The Zoo also has disabled access to all facilities and events.
Overall - its a really fun day for all the family with many facilities to use, and even interactive games in many indoor enclosures. I really enjoyed it and would love to go back in the future.
